Game Review Structure

Before I begin writing any game reviews, I magically woke up at 3am, half-consciously scheming how I would structure my game reviews. I've brought it down to 5 topics each with a rating out of 2, to give a total of 10.
  • Story plot
  • Art style
  • Music
  • Character development/enhancement
  • Movement/Mobility
Most of the games I will review are role-playing games or ones that requires upskilling. If I step out of this genre then some of the topics I will rate, will definitely change.

Pid

Story Plot 0/2
I'l be looking out for consistency, plot holes, plot twists, emotion, and the fluidity of story-telling.

Art and Style 0/2
This is subjective right? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Correct however, I would also review on the execution of the art style. This is what I typically look out for when it comes to the graphics design of the game - is it rendered well? Are there enough shadows or contrasts and depth of colours to create a believable place? Does it hold the certain art style consistently throughout the entire game right down to the finest detail?

Music 0/2
Does the music evoke emotions of any kind? Does it suit the story arc or is it there to chime nonchalantly? The instruments and the tonal range of music will also be taken into consideration.

Character development/enhancement 0/2
Here, we look at the way that the character has developed from the beginning until the end of the story/game: the upskilling and skill tree system - has the character become more powerful as the story advances? Do the skills or tools you've gained allow you to explore places not explored before?

Movement/Mobility 0/2
Fluid motion and controller/keyboard stability is key to getting the game right. Excellent control and precision is what players look for most in the game, and of course with no lag.

Conclusion
Lastly, I think it is important to highlight the game's difficulty for a player like myself and the time I've put towards it. So this will also be included in, but are not weighed into the ratings. The final score rating will be out of 10.

Hope you will enjoy my upcoming review.

Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack

Yes, I do think this deserves a small post. My largest consumption of music lately has been Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack. It is emotional, calm and relaxing. Be warned! It can evoke emotions of any sorts so treat it with lots of care!

The soundtrack was written for an upskilling platformer game released in 2015. You may play the Spotify list on the right side of this blog.

Revival of Jiggle your thumbs!

Many eons later....

After being far removed from the blogging world, I'm re-entering the scene to write about things that I still delight in. These passions have also changed from the years that I have been away. Sorry to those who have been actively following updates long ago.

It will include very in-depth reviews of games and experiences while playing, and sometimes expectations that everyone can most likely relate to. Most of my steam mates are shocked that I have moved away from the likes of Team Fortress 2 (which still stands to be my favourite social game with friends). I've wasted nearly 4000 hours of my life on this game over the years. It's not a very healthy habit, I'll admit haha!!

What to expect? There may be a post describing the sorts of game genres I would play, and generally what you may be able to find on this blog. I'm yet to figure out how I will present this.

Minor changes to the blog:
  • Some Youtube links have been updated since Youtube has secured their website (now https and not http).
  • Wallpaper update
  • The right column has been updated
Why am I back? I guess you could say I am a forgetful human being, and I would like to remind myself sometimes what I enjoy. Also, if you find my updates helpful I would very much appreciate your feedback. Blogging is a much more relaxing and less intensive way of presenting a topic compared to uploading videos on Youtube. So I am choosing this channel instead.

The internet is a very very scary world again....
