Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Here it is! The awaited Marvel Ultimate Alliance game review (though it really is my personal opinion). Marvel is going strong!! With its combined universe and many of your favourite super heroes and ones that my generation has never really come across yet heard before are here!!! My favourite part of the game is that you are in a team of 4 and it is a brawl! I love brawls...hey don't ask me why I am so violent for a girl but I just am! You can rotate and play whichever character you want to even though you are in a team of 4!

During a scene to the next team mission

You can unlock suits, unlock special characters, collect armour and improve your characters, enhance special moves and enhance special qualities of your characters.

There are 4 suits to unlock for each character:
the last suit being the one that you can only lock from a comic mission (only one character instead of a team) but you need to be able to access the comic mission by collecting it in the team missions themselves.

The characters that I spent the most time on and saw to the end are Captain America, Thor (Beta Bill Ray), Ghost Rider and Human Torch.

Jump under the cut to read more about character profiles, good + bad points of the game and more pictures!

Good points:

  • The comic missions follow very closely to the original comics and the new series invented by later authors
  • Unlocked suits are following the comics closely
  • Loved the artwork of the movie scenes
  • The special skills, qualities and the amount of money need to raise them are fair
  • Interesting story plot and bases
Limited aspects:

  • The game only lasted 20-25 hours at the very maximum including training
  • Comic missions took up most of the game with a one player concept
  • Music becomes very very very loud unsuspectedly during team missions especially when you have headphones on at medium volume!
  • Only few movie scenes
There are a lot more to mention but I decided to stop right here.

Beginning mission

Movie Scene - Thor, Wolverine, Spider-man, Captain America

Main team:

  • Captain America drew my attention because he is incredibly strong and has the best special attacks. Shield throw is like a homing missle! hahaha awesome. Also, one of his most helpful suit increases the chance for the team to be powered up! I chose not to use that one because the chance is rather low. His unlocked suit American soldier/medic.
  • Ghost Rider was unfortunately recommended by my brother to include in the team. Excellent weapon that attacks several enemies at once but because of Ghost Rider's nature, his special attacks makes enemies fear him and flee, or incinerate them and so on. It only proves to be useful in situations of many surrounding enemies.
  • Thor uses a powerful hammer though it is an immensley slow character. No matter!! It has agility enhancing power-up that allows him to honestly travel faster than Deadpool and Elecktra! I just like smashing enemies faster than my other team mates can HOHOHO!! His most significant and strong attack by far is the swinging hammer (can't remember the name) where the hammer is flung towards the enemy nearly K.O with one hit.
  • Human Torch is by far my favourite character to use because of his explosive special attacks. I use it soooo frequently! I love it! There was one attack where his uppercut move flings enemies up in the air like a fast eruption and another attack that creates a field of fire around him and enemies entering that field will loose life steadily each time.

Mission

Other characters that I have used throughout the game:

  • Elecktra was portrayed as really strong in Elecktra movie...it was nothing like the one in the game. She is a specialist but not very strong. Agility is her specialty though.
  • Deadpool is a gun specialist with awesome mid-range to long-range special attacks and definitely has the upper advantage by his agileness and fast combatic moves. Though he doesn't do as much damage (that's ok...I love fast people).
  • Blade is a the first special character to unlock and his weapon can attack several enemies at once as opposed to one-to-one hand combat by most characters not including special attacks. Though his movements are somewhat slow and to me, he fairs as relatively ok in defeating opponents.
  • Storm has an amazing suit which not only enhances her elemental damage (increasing in special attacks) but also her attack power more than other suits.

Awesome brawl where infinite enemies come after you in the training simulator

Also, you can customise your team to gain special team bonuses like +5% damage or elemental damage for something like:
Specialist team --> Captain America, Deadpool, Elecktra, Blade
Scorchers --> Human Torch, Storm, Thor, Ghost Rider

Ultimate enemy is Dr. Doom where you need to defeat him

He is in this castle. Phew...the last battle was awesome!! I really loved it...because you become so powerful in this battle that it is so funny when you battle other enemies in the castle other than Doom himself.

Also, the within each mission are different types of objectives. The ending depends on whether you have completed the objectives successfully or not. I did not complete a lot of objectives so there was a not so typical ending hahaha...it showed what happened after the objective was left astray.

What do you think after reading this? Agree or disagree? Let me know your thoughts. I don't want to spoil the story for those who haven't played it.

I honestly recommend that it is worth buying not because the graphics is good, nor the story, but by how true the game is to the comics. Also, I can't get enough of a brawl. Enough said.
